Leaving college at odd hours and getting an auto to reach the metro station is a little tough. Even auto-walas seem to know the time colleges starts and end and thus, the unavailability of autos I faced when I came out. To my luck, there was one auto standing at a distance from the college gate but the driver seemed too busy talking 'serious business' on his large smartphone. He signaled me to get in the auto before I could even tell him where I had to go. If you are living in Delhi and travel frequently in the auto, you would relate to that one expression you get from every auto-wala bhaiya when you ask ask him if he has change?! In my case I had to pay 30 bucks and I had a 500 rupee note. To my surprise, I didn't have to face that weird expression when I asked the guy for change. On my way to the station, he started talking about his life. He told me he had two daughters, both studying in Delhi University colleges. I was impressed to know that even though the man made his living by driving an auto, he left no opportunity to give his children he best of education. He then asked me about my course that I was studying in college. When I told him, I was pursuing Journalism, he spoke in a very excited manner that one of his daughter also wanted to do the same once she completed her graduation and go into the television industry . Before I got off at the station, he asked me, ''Private college mai beti ko padhane ke to paise zyada lagenge na? Koi baat nahi. Tumse udhaar le lunga'' he laughed off and I laughed with him. I took my change back, and was about to cross the road when he called from behind and said smiling,''OK beta. Thanks. Nice meeting you'' and rode away in his auto.
